In her short film “Unmaking” Lara Torres explores the limits of fashion practices today and deconstructs preconceptions about the relationship between body and clothing, production and consumption. In an attempt to understand the constituted “makeup of fashion”, the modes of production are undone, such as the seams of a jacket or the stitches of a pullover. As medium of reflection and resistance, the film refers to a condition of post-production of fashion design by exposing the limits of manufacture driven by overproduction within the increasingly global market of the 21st century.
